More August Photos

We hope you enjoy these photos of some of the other things we've been up to in August.

Joseph goes to work with Jenny a lot; after taking Jadyn to school on the edge of campus, Jenny and Joseph hang out in the Science Division while Jenny monitors her online class.  Here he is doing a little reading to pass the time in her office.

He occasionally gets to see his friend YeoJun, son of one of Jenny's colleagues; they will be in the infant room together at the BC Early Learning Center by mid-September.

The orange horse is a huge favorite.  He chews on this daily!

One hot August day, Jadyn had a dentist appointment -- she stayed in the chair for a full teeth cleaning and polishing this time -- and then we went to play in a local wading pool with her friend Alexa.

Joseph hardly slept the entire day, completely fascinated with all the action by the water and following the girls' every move.  He finally succumbed to exhaustion late in the afternoon.

Jadyn still loves playing at local parks.  This particular afternoon, she worked to perfect her shots on goal.

Jadyn and Joseph adore each other.  Joseph hanging out in his crib usually tempts Jadyn to climb in and cuddle.  They also cuddle on the couch to watch the Mariners on tv, or in Mom and Dad's bed in the morning.  We love to photograph them together, and you can see why via these photos!

Joseph's smile can not be hidden by a pacifier,
can it?!?!

The renovation of our 1920's craftsman home has begun -- that project deserves its own blog, but we haven't the time for two.  So here are a couple of photos of Jadyn enjoying the construction site.

Jadyn loves that this machine has an excavator

on the other!

Our next post should include photos of a flower girl at her auntie's wedding.  Check back soon!

First Plane Trip at 4 Months

Joseph had his first airplane trip over the first weekend of this month, when he and Mommy flew to Cleveland for Aunt Julie's wedding shower.  It was a surprise that the WA contingent had any representation for the event, which was a fun twist to the short vacation.  Joseph was a total champ for the whole thing, sleeping during the red-eye flight to OH and more than half of the flight home to Seattle, and being charming and happy meeting many new people and being held by virtual strangers.  Both Mom and baby honored their West coast body clocks, which helped a lot both on the planes and getting back to everyday life when they got home.  Some cute photos:

Daddy and Jadyn were having a blast during the hot weekend back in Seattle.  They pretty much never stopped moving and made the most of the fantastic summer weather!

Joseph turned 4 months old on the trip, and back in Seattle was treated to another check-up at the pediatrician's office, this time with shots.  He took the shots in stride, like he's taken most things in his life so far.  We were pleased and a little surprised to find he weighed 14 pounds and 12 ounces at that visit, and he measured 25.5 inches long as well.  The weight is 50th percentile and the length is 75th percentile -- yikes!  He has gained 7 pounds and 5.5 inches since birth.  Looking back at Jadyn's growth stats, we noted that Joseph at 4 months is bigger than Jadyn was at 6 months.  It's true what they say, that every child is a unique individual!

There are more summer pictures to share, and there will be another plane trip next month for the big wedding.  So check back soon to see more documentation of our summer fun!

Summer?

While the rest of the country bakes in hot, humid temperatures, we are having a cool summer -- this will explain the jackets in some of the pictures!

Jadyn continues to love playing at parks, with family and friends.  She also likes to kick a soccer ball around -- she seems like a natural dribbler!

When Jadyn is playing, Joseph is typically hanging out in the stroller....

Jadyn has continued to remain very interested in puzzles, and this one has some math as well.  Fun stuff!

She also really likes to draw, write, and spell.  She has very elaborate stories about her sketches, too.  We try to write some of that stuff down when she tells us, but we don't always capture it well before she is off to the next thing that grabs her attention!

Just this week she started writing her name on her art.  And she has shown interest in typing, too, and when prompted was able to type her full name.

Joseph has become interested in putting things into his mouth and grabbing his toes.  One day a colleague brought in her son's Bumbo chair, and Joseph really enjoyed sitting upright.  Too bad he can't yet do that on his own!  Joseph also has quite a voice -- squealing and shrieking repeatedly to get our attention and speak his mind.  He hates being left alone, preferring instead to be in the middle of any social event.  He has started "fighting" his naps and going to sleep for the night, as if there is so much more for him to experience and be a part of than a boring ol' snooze.  As we recall from our first experience through this, he is right on schedule!

And we never tire of seeing Jadyn and Joseph enjoy each other....

Stay tuned for more "summer" adventures!
